About Us

Welcome to the PubWest

Our association is a trade organization established in 1977 as the Rocky Mountain Book Publishers Association. We are a professional group dedicated to serving the needs of its members and to providing a forum for the discussion of publishing issues. Our membership ranges from small independent presses to publishing companies with worldwide operations. Our associate members include printers, designers, binderies, and other publishing-related freelancers. The association provides a framework for networking that leads to lifelong contacts by:

~ building lines of communication among its members

~ conducting professional education

~ advocating publishing causes

~ coordinating cooperative marketing projects

~ advancing publishing careers through unique volunteer experiences and
    leadership roles

~ recognizing outstanding achievements in publishing

We invite you to join us! Contact our office at executivedirector@pubwest.org for a membership application.

A Message from PubWest President Todd R. Berger

Thanks for your interest in the PubWest! Membership in PubWest has many benefits, including discounts on subscriptions and industry services, numerous opportunities to network with peers and publishing vendors from across the U.S. and Canada, member discounts to our annual conference, and much more.

At PubWest, we strive to serve our Active and Associate membership by adding new benefits every year, by staging what is widely regarded as one of the most valuable publishing conferences for enhancing both your bottom line and invigorating your creative energies, by advocating on publishing-related issues, and by providing opportunities for members and other interested parties to gather in cities across the West to discuss publishing issues.

Governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors, elected by the membership, and administered by a small paid staff, PubWest is recognized as one of the leading book publishing organizations in North America. But we don’t want to just sit on our laurels. Make sure we don’t by providing suggestions, comments, questions, volunteers, recruited new members, and cookies to our staff at the PubWest offices in Portland, Oregon, and to any member of your Board of Directors. I’ll say it again: We’re here to serve you.

We’d also like to meet you, if not by phone or at regional meetings then at our annual conference. The conference fees and your travel expenses will be earned back several times over by the knowledge you gain from the invigorating sessions and the inspiring sharing of ideas with peers, publishing vendors, and others who believe passionately in the idea that the written word has the power to change the world.
